Short

Short - Entering a trade in anticipation of falling prices – i.e., selling the base currency first and buying it back later. The opposite of “long”. For example, going short on EUR/USD means selling EUR (with expectation it will weaken against USD). In platforms, opening a sell position on a pair is a short trade. Short trades profit if the exchange rate falls. (cTrader tracks long vs. short by the Direction field on an open position.)
