Trend – The general direction of market prices over a period. An uptrend (bullish trend) is characterized by higher highs and higher lows, meaning price is generally rising. A downtrend (bearish trend) has lower highs and lower lows. Traders identify trends using chart patterns and indicators. For example, a series of green candlesticks on higher timeframes suggests an uptrend. (Trends can also be sideways/neutral.) Understanding trends helps robots decide on trade direction or strategy.
