Parameter Step (Step)

Parameter Step – The increment by which an input parameter is changed during optimization. For example, a step of 1 tests 10, 11, 12… if your range is 10–20. In cTrader’s parameter settings, you explicitly set the step for each input. Smaller steps give finer optimization but greatly increase run count. MT5’s tester similarly uses the “step” for each input when enumerating combinations.
