Margin

Margin - The amount of funds a trader must deposit as collateral to open and maintain a leveraged position. Margin is usually a fraction of the trade size (e.g. 1% margin means $1,000 margin required for a $100,000 position). Available margin limits how large positions can be; if losses accumulate and margin is insufficient, a margin call can occur.
