Optimization - The overall process of finding the best parameter values for a trading robot. It involves multiple test runs (backtests) with different inputs. As MetaTrader’s help puts it, optimization “means multiple runs of an Expert Advisor using history data with different sets of parameters, aimed at finding their best combination”. cTrader similarly treats optimization as running the cBot many times (a backtest pass per parameter set) to identify the optimal configuration.
