A software component that adds specific features to an existing application without modifying its core. In the Forex context, plugins let third parties extend a trading platform. Examples include MetaTrader’s Expert Advisors and custom indicators (which plug into charts), or NinjaTrader’s Add-On framework for custom tools. Plugins are important because they let traders and developers enhance the platform’s capabilities (new strategies, indicators, UI elements) without rebuilding it.
