A risk management order used to automatically close an open position if the market price reaches a specified level against you. In cTrader, when you set a Stop Loss on a trade, the platform will execute an order to close your position once that price is hit, thereby capping the potential loss on that trade. For example, if you’re long EUR/USD at 1.1000 and set an SL at 1.0950, the position will be closed when the bid price hits 1.0950, limiting your loss to 50 pips (plus any slippage). Stop-loss orders are crucial for managing risk, and in cTrader they can be set at the time of order entry or modified afterward. (They reside server-side, so they will trigger even if your platform is offline.)
