Win Rate

Win rate is the percentage of trades that are profitable. In a trading journal, it’s a basic performance metric: if a robot takes 100 trades and 55 are wins, the win rate is 55%. While useful, win rate must be considered with other metrics. Journaling tools automatically calculate win rate after importing trades. A high win rate doesn’t guarantee profit; for example, large losses on the losing trades could still wipe out gains. That’s why journals pair win rate with risk/reward ratios and expectancy. For robot development, tracking win rate over time can reveal strategy tweaks effects: for instance, if adjusting an entry condition raises win rate from 50% to 60% (with the same risk per trade), that improvement would show up clearly in journal reports. In practice, traders use win rate from the journal to validate confidence – a balanced robot often has a solid win rate along with sufficient average win size to ensure overall profitability.
